Magdalena Bay (Mag Bay) is one of the premier sportfishing destinations on the Pacific Coast of Baja California Sur.

The 31-mile-long protected bay and its offshore waters offer consistent action for both inshore and offshore species.

Our flagship vessel El Explorador operates as a dedicated mothership, anchoring near the fishing grounds so you maximize fishing time with daily launches of our sportfishing boats.

• Striped Marlin – Peak October–January (famous sardine run)

• Dorado (Mahi Mahi) – Year-round, best June–December

• Wahoo – July–December

• Yellowfin Tuna – Summer to fall

• Inshore / Mangrove – Corvina, grouper, snapper, roosterfish, snook, cabrilla (year-round)

• Other: yellowtail, bonito, broomtail grouper, cubera snapper

Daily Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrival & Move to Anchorage

Arrive in Puerto San Carlos any time. Our tender meets you at the dock and brings you straight to the mothership.

Enjoy a welcome lunch, cabin check-in, and safety briefing. Mid-to-late afternoon the El Explorador moves out and anchors near the mouth of Magdalena Bay — right where the fish are. Relax, enjoy sunset, cocktails, and dinner on board.

 

Day 2 – Full Fishing Day

5:30 am coffee and breakfast. Full day fishing on the 32' sportfisher.

 

Day 3 – Second Full Fishing Day

Same schedule: early breakfast and another full fishing day on the sportfisher.

 

Day 4 – Morning Bay Fishing (Optional) + Departure

Morning breakfast. Optional morning bay fishing session inside Magdalena Bay. Lunch on the mothership, then we head back to Puerto San Carlos. Tender to the dock, then ground transportation to Loreto or La Paz airport for your afternoon or evening flights home.

 

Total fishing time: Two full days + one optional morning bay fishing session.

You stay in pure fishing mode the entire trip.
